Day 3: Bangkok, Thailand

MAY 6, 2010- KL to BANGKOK, THAILAND

Quick RunDown:

We went to LCCT early the next day. I was still not feeling well at that time so we decided to take the taxi going to the airport instead of haggling all our luggages to the monorail and MRT. The taxi costed us 70 MYR.

We took our breakfast in MarryBrown and decided to take advantage of Starbuck's free wifi while waiting for our 3pm flight to Bangkok. I gifted Marjorie with a Malaysia tumbler to add to her collection.

nag-upload ng pics. Thanks to Starbucks LCCT free wifi

Our flight via AirAsia to Bangkok was delayed for an hour. It was my first time to fly via the said courier and it gave me a very bad first impression of the airline. We reached Bangkok at around 6pm at kahit ang paglabas ng luggages ay napakatagal. Nakasimangot na ako nyan kasi sa itinerary ko, we were supposed to have a buffet dinner in the Baiyoke Sky Hotel. Mukhang di na mangyayari yon. We got out of the airport at around 6:30 pm after we had our money changed to Thailand baht.
AirAsia- budget courier. : )

Thailand Baht!!!
Not wanting to haggle our luggages, ginamit ko ang naresearch ko sa net about the cheaper ways to get out of the airport. From the arrival area, go down one floor and there you will find metered taxis. From the counter, you have to tell them your hotel and they will give you a receipt and instruct a taxi driver where to go. Kalurks.

I was trying my best to gather all my senses kasi mainit na ulo ni Joy at hindi kami pwedeng magsabay dahil maliligaw kami. Besides, I was the one who planned and researched about the entire trip and I felt responsible.

After kaming iikot ikot ni lolo, we finally found our hostel in Silom area that costed us 200 baht higher than I expected. Pinagpasensyahan ko na lang si lolo kasi matanda na sya and parang dapat di na sya nagtatrabaho.

It was a whole new world inside our hostel.

Saphaiphae Hostel is a budget hotel in Silom area. Super sulit ang 1,100 baht per night in a standard double room. Feeling ko nga dapat mas mahal pa ang binabayad namin because the room was very clean, had a refreshing and youthful ambiance and fully equipped with all our necessary needs. Plus, we had a chance to wash our clothes with their coin-operated washing machines located in the 4th floor. To top it all, it is just 5 minutes walk from the train station.

Don't  you think the wallpaper is way artistic?
Let's take a lift.
cutie din ng elevator wallpapers!

After dropping our stuffs, we rushed to the nearest restaurant in vicinity.

It's time to taste authentic pad thai. Silom Village was designed like a small Thai village with restaurant at the center surrounded with stalls of different goods from sculptures to clothes and other antique finds. There was a Thai dance performance at the center stage which I found less interesting because of my pad thai.

Silom Village at  a glance.

Sculptures everywhere.

So here's what we had for dinner that billed out to 874 baht

Pad thai is a dish of stir-fried rice noodles with eggsfish saucetamarind juice, red chilli pepper, plus any combination of bean sproutsshrimpchicken, or tofu, garnished with crushed peanutscoriander and lime. (wikipedia)
i forgot how this is called.
After walking back to the hotel, we ended the day. A trip to the river side to the Grand Palace was waiting the next day.

Day 2: Petronas Towers

May 5, 2011: KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

Quick RunDown:

The Genting Bus dropped us back to KL Sentral and from there we took the train to KLCC station for 3.20 MYR each.

I knew from my basic research that we have to look for KLCC Suria Mall to get a good view of the towers. The mall was easy to look for but where to have a good spot to view the famous skyscrapers were quite confusing for us. We grabbed our dinner first from House of Bento inside the mall.

even shopping is just a sightseeing dahil walang budget at walang time

Dahil may energy na ulit, finally, nakita na rin namin ang Petronas Towers.

I have read from forums and other travel blogs that there is a tour of the skybridge connecting the twin towers but we both refused to take that tour. Okay na sa amin ang masilayan ang exterior beauty ng Petronas towers.

Petronas Towers, based from my little research is 452 metres tall. Two brilliant Filipinos along with other architects designed the building. It houses different companies' offices. The instant I saw it, napa-wow talaga ako. Sparkling ang description ko even though  I know that word is not enough to suffice it.

Dahil hindi naman talaga kami photographers, we found it hard to get an excellent picture. Kailangan ata dadapa ka para makakuha ng perfect shot. Here's to our attempt for a perfect twin tower shot.

Am i caught in the middle?

After a few more photo op, we finally decided to go home.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has taught me that harmony can be achieved between old and new, civilization can be pursued without disrupting nature and people practicing different religions can exist peacefully with too much respect and without discrimination.

 KL, Malaysia is truly Asia.

Join me as we said "Sawasdee" to Bangkok,Thailand the next day.

Day 2: Genting Highlands

May 5: KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

Quick RunDown:

Our bus schedule to Genting was at 10:30 am. Maaga kaming dumating sa KL Sentral to take our breakfast. Dahil nasarapan kami sa KFC Malaysia stylee, KFC ulit for breakfast.

Genting Highlands offers hotels, casinos, shopping and dining outlets , entertainments and theme parks.

Go Genting Bus located at KL Sentral's Lower Ground Floor (below the escalator)
The Go Genting Package we bought for 47 MYR each is inclusive of back and forth bus transfers from KL Sentral to Genting Skyway Lower Station, cable car transfers from Genting Highlands to Skyway Lower Station and a choice between buffet lunch in Coffee Terrace or entrance to Genting's outdoor theme park.

so green and so high!
I was not feeling okay that day kaya I was not the usual giddy person. We chose the Coffee Terrace lunch instead of the theme park entrance. Coffee Terrace offers a variety of food choices from Local Favorites, Nyonya, Chinese, Japanese, Western Delicacies and Desserts.

Here's an array of everything that went inside our stomachs that day.
aint this cute?
Nyonya Cuisine, whatever it is.

green, leafy.

Let's go Western, baby.
and Japanese.

Busog from lunch, we looked for the outdoor theme park. We have to pay for the entrance because we have used our ticket for the Coffee Terrace lunch. Entrance fee is 47 MYR each.

Looking at the entrance, the theme park didn't excite me much. Having been to some theme parks, this one is not outstanding for me.

the entrance didn't look inviting to me.

What we have found inside:

mukha bang nag eenjoy?
I didn't enjoy the outdoor theme park. So I satisfied myself with the thought that maybe the indoor theme park is something. Check out what's indoor.

I've seen the Statue of Liberty.

there's the gondola ride, too.
Genting's Eiffel Tower
That's a wrap for our Genting trip. I should have lowered my expectations of the place. Of course, we did not rest immediately after leaving the place. We were off to see the sparkling Petronas Towers.
